Question No gui

hello all,

I'm new to linux I just installed linux8.0 and I can't seem to get to a gui (during installation I picked the option to load with gui) all I get is a command prompt. I have tried these commands ( redhat-config-xfree86 and startx) but I get this error message (>IO: fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining

Can any one help me please?

that an x config error saying that something is amiss in your setup. redo the xf86config and take your time. you will want to know your monitor stats. you should be able to find them on the manufacturers site.

i don't know what the red hat xconfig tool is so i don't know the shortcut for that.

good luck.
