No fake_windows drive with wine-20040309

I seem to have a small problem........with wine...

I'm using mandrake 10(final version) I installed wine, firstly by rpm(installed off the disk)
tryed to start somethings, notepad and mine.....I typed in notepad, nothing...then i type wine notepad, once again nothing.

I tryed compiling wine thinking maybe it's because I have a new kernel version.....compiled nicely and installed.

Again no fake_windows drive.....I got fed up, in the end I made one, following the details on the wine site.......still could'nt run notepad nothing.

I had it working nicely on mandrake 9.2
why not mandrake 10?

I am, as you can tell, a total noob...still!

Could someone maybe give me a step-by-step guide of how to compile and install the right way........or what the bloody problem is.

If your wondering.....I made the wine c_drive in /home
linked it to the config file.

I typed in wine progname to exe a prog with wine.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

I still don't think Mandrake 10 is ready for prime time. Everyone I know has had some serious bugs (including myself) with it. I like to try out a "point zero" build on a test machine before I actually put it on a workstation or server I plan to use. Even then I usually won't use a new major build until at least .1 or .2 because I don't really have the time any more to play around with getting it to work right. I know this doesn't help your wine, just don't be surprised when things go bad with a very new version. It looks like to me you did everything you're supposed to do to get wine running.
