Hi, recently I have downloaded Pollix, a version of Knoppix 3.4 loaded with programming stuff. When I booted it up, I found no desktop. All I had was a toolbar at the bottom. What the heck is going on?
p.s. if you haven't noticed, I am a complete newbie at linux, so this might be an incredibly dumb question...sorry
I tried the different boot options (icefwm, etc... I don't remember the names), they had a different setup and stuff, but none of them strayed from having nothing for a desktop. This is really bugging me, because I really like Knoppix 3.7, but I don't have enough know-how to add the junit class to the java classes. Also, for some reason, javac will only compile one class at a time, instead of compiling each class down the line. Pollix is almost perfect, except for the fact that, as I have said, I have no desktop. I would LOVE to use Pollix based on Knoppix 3.7. Thanks for the help
