No C Compiler found in $PATH

Hello

I am trying to install gnu m4, and when I run the ./configure script I get the following message

->

checking for gawk... gawk
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
Configure: error: no acceptable compiler found in $PATH

How can I fix this issue, to be able to install gnu m4.

Thanks.

You need to download and install gcc first. Get a binary for your distro, don't try to compile from source.

Thanks, I had assumed that gcc came pre-installed with my distro
