no bootie (newbiw help)
I have an old laptop that will boot with windows 98 cd-rom but wont take anything else. I would like to force my computer to boot the slax cd and my DSL cd. i see it wanting to but in the end it stops and asks me to hit any key to try again. any ideas? thanks u all ....
See if you can get into BIOS (del-ctrl or any other combination of keys from the bootup screen) and have it boot from the CDROM.. if not, thn you can always make boot floppies and boot the machine using those. Most linux distro's have instructions on how to make boot floppies on their websites/installation instructions.
Well, in that case, making boot floppies to install linux seems like a good option. I doubt he burnt the iso images properly (i.e they are not bootable).
