"no available viewer/app" message despite apps being there

hey all i'm running redhat 7.3 with the gnome gui (this is my first outside windows experience) and all the installers i have tryed to open have come back with the error message "nautilus has no viewer installed capabil of veiwing" so i right click -> open with app "nautilus has no app....."

i thought that it might be windows file types or somthing but there are .gz and .tar. this has happened with every file i have tryed to open so far including executables like .bin and .exe

any help would be much apreciated

Fine manipulation and installation tasks are usually done through the console window in linux. So open the console window (or terminal) and
cd directory_name
where direcotry_name is the name of direcotry which has .bin, .tar.gz etc files.
Then there are different procedures for installing different files.

Linux doesnt support .exe files.
