Nividia drivers for Suse9.1
Nividia drivers for Suse9.1. I would like to get NVIDIA drivers for my game machine which has Suse 9.1but IS NOT hooked up to the internet. I have a nongame machine with Suse 9.1 that IS hooked up to the internet. I am new to Suse so how/where do I get the drivers. Second how do I get them installed/configured onto my game machine so I can play games?

Game Machine System Summary:
Processor: AMD Anthalon (TM) XP 1600+ 1.4 Ghz
Memory: 256 MB
Video 800x600 in 64 colors, NVIDIA GeForce MX 420 Ver. 4.0
Hard Drive 37.27 GB; 13.46 GB

P.S. I have read on the NVIDIA webiste that the latest drivers DO NOT work with my older cards so they cannot be the latest drivers.

Thank You!

What exactly is the video card. Is that a geforce 4 mx 420?

I haven't seen anything about the latest drivers not working with geforce cards. The GF4mx420 is on the supported list as far as I can see. is where th get the drivers for 3D... They do have older versions (archive) but I would be trying the latest verson first. They have a special driver page for linux users.

They do have a special readme on the linux video driver page for suse users by the looks...

Actually, after reading the readme I see this...

"SUSE 9.1: It is recommended to use YOU (YaST Online Update) for (re)installation
of the nvidia driver. There are several reasons for this. First, it's
simple. Second, and this is the most important one, you won't need to
recompile the nvidia kernel module after a kernel update."

So I suggest getting that other machine on the net, networking them together or whatever.
