nitpicky xterm question
Is there a menu option for xterm in KDE? I know, I know, I've seen Konsole, and also Kterm, just wondering where I can start up good old generic xterm (apart from opening up a Konsole and typing xterm ;-)
Thanks |
If one doesn't exist you can create one. In KDE it is noe to hard. Just use the control center thingy.

Thanks. I'll take your word for it that the Control Center makes it easy. Not at my Linux box now.

OK, didn't turn out to be easy for me. That KDE menu hierarchy is a mess in RH8! I spent at least an hour looking through every menu/submenu/sub-submenu. Maybe the answer is it just isn't there. Are you talking about creating a menu option or a panel button?
I don't care which, but could you please be more specific in how to do quickly and conveniently start up a plain vanilla xterm? Also, I ran across a configuration utility for Konsole, but could not find where to run Konsole itself from the menu. A little help with this would be appreciated, too. |
It should be on the terminal session, accessible from KDE kicker.
Terminal sessions launcer gives these option: Shell, Secure Shell, Screen Session, Root Console, Midnight Commander, Linux Console, Root Midnight Commander, Xterm. Root Xterm ... Or you can add those and more using kmenuedit (the KDE menu editor). Good luck :-) |
