I have my HP desk top set up so I must login buy way of BOIS. So I am sure that the operateing system is up and running. I just can not open my deak top screen. What moves should I make to resolve this problem my friends.

If you have a Linux system running (even a liveCD), install inxi and post the output of this
Code:
inxi -c 0 -v 4 |

This is very strange. I was under the impression that I was get help with my black screen problem caused from an upgrade.
Did I just step into The Twilight Zone? I have copy and posted reams of information and now I find out I working with a person that does not know anything about Ubuntu, are you kidding me. Were is Frankbell? Why is SYG00 even here if he has no answers? |
I was attempting to ensure we had correct info on your environment. With an attitude like that you may not get any help.

In fact, your first post in response gave totally different information. The hardware you said you had, and the hardware listed in that command's output are two totally different sets of hardware. So, does the machine have an AMD processor and AMD GPU, or Intel processor and nVidia GPU? I'll go on the (correctly formatted by syg000) listed output. Boot by adding nomodeset to the bootloader command line. Code:
dpkg -l | grep nouveau Code:
apt-get update BTW for more help, first Duck Duck Go hit: http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/842 |

i WOULD expect issues from going from the LTS 14.04 to the SHORT TERM SUPPORT 14.10
and why not just install 15.04 or just upgrade to 15.04 from 14.04 desktop upgrade http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/upgrade |
