Nic undetected after installing RedhatLinux using pci=nommconf
 

Hiii there,
Im tejas and ve been using linux si nce 1 year.
I faced a new problem today during redhat 9 installation..
Mine is a IDE disk and i was tryin to install redhat 9.0
and my system hanged at the following pci:probing pci hardware(bus00)

After goggling i found a solution which is below

1)ive installed using the parameter "linux all-generic-ide irqpoll pci=nommconf"

I ve tried the above kernel parameter and installation was successful,
and i ve edited the kernel paramters during the boot .

i have a fresh copy of redhat linux

But now my system is unable to detect NIC card..
where i entered "ifconfig eth0 10.133.55.33",bang came the error
"siocsifaddr:no such device"

Kindly send me the consequences and of using the above parameter i.e' ("linux all-generic-ide irqpoll pci=nommconf")
