NIC installation on Compaq nx9010 laptop
Yesterday I installed SuSe 9.1
XP and W2000 (for professional reasons) were allready installed
Suse works fine but I cannot go on the internet.

During the installation of Suse I saw (somewhere?) that the NIC was recognized ((National Semiconductor DP83815/816 10/100 MacPhyter NDIS 5.0 Miniport..).
Does that imply that the driver has been installed?

If no :
- How can I verify if the network card is functioning/enabled/well configured...

If Yes :
- Then I have a problem to "Manually specify the proxy settings" (Konqueror)
Only the Authorization option "Prompt as needed" can be selected.
I want to specify a domain\username and password but that field is grey.

Can someone assist me with this?

Just because it recognized the card does NOT mean it installed it. It just got that information from the PCI bus.

To test it, try pinging something.
Please post the output of the following:
lspci -v
ifconfig -a
dmesg | grep eth
dmesg | grep -i miniport
