NFS and Samba takes forever to start.

!!I have very minimal linux networking experiens!!!

I start them both at boot normally but it makes no differents if I load them form commandline.
I use static ip, and there are only one other computer whit linux but it runs windows mostly so NFS shouldn't have anything to do most of the time.
I do all the Samba mounting manually and that's quick. So what is going on
Also Samba takes longer than NFS.

What does /etc/hosts and /etc/exports look like, also,
what is the output of ps -A? Did you have a look at
/var/log/messages (debug,syslog, ... ) to see whether
there's any problems with that service?

Cheers,
Tink

hosts file:
198.xxx.2.5 CyanBox localhost (I put the xxx in the ip just now)
198.xxx.2.1 CyanBox localhost

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
# (added automatically by netbase upgrade)

::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters

exports file:
# /etc/exports: the access control list for filesystems which may be exported
# to NFS clients. See exports(5).
/home/tripmix/LinuxShare/ *(rw,async,all_squash)

Try replacing the * in the exports with the actual
names(s)/IPs of the machine(s) you want to access
the box from ...
