nforce2 drivers
Well it's official I'm a :newbie:
I've posted here before for help with Knoppix on my hard driveless machine and now that I have a new computer I need some more help. I have an emachines T3025 with an nforce2 mobo and I'm currently running Fedora Core 1 (got it with a the Official Fedora Companion). I have downloaded both the tar and rpm files for the nforce 2 and I need to know how to install one or the other. I tried using the nvidia instructions but I couldn't make heads or tails out of it. I read that i could recompile the kernel to 2.6.5 to get the support built in but I'm not quite ready to do that yet since I just installed today. I guess this is something I'll need to know anyway for future intallation reference. once again thanks for your help. |
which drivers are you referring to exactly?
I'll assume your talking about integrated network support with the forcedeth driver, but it doesnt really matter, for the .tar open a console and type tar -zxvf foo.tar.gz then cd foo look in the directory for a file called either INSTALL or README this will give you instructions on what to do next, I suggest reading them, if you cannot understand what they are telling you then it will more or less boil down to typing, ./configure && make && make dep && make install, those are what a tarred application will generally need again read the README or INSTAll file since those will tell you exactly which of those commands or their variants are required |
