Newest Release?

Just a general question, should I always get the newest build? For example do I really need Red Hat 8? Or, if I get a book that has Red Hat version 7 is that worse?

2 schools of thought here:
1. Bleeding edge means latest drivers, newest features, and sometimes better performance.

2. Older generation means less buggy, proven quality, better documented and stable.

If you can find what you need in an older version, I suggest checkin that out, however if you run into problems, you may be able to fix them with a simple update. Try em both if you can. Find the one you prefer.

:)

Cool

Thanks. You know, I am fairly used to seeing/getting flamed, but you guys are the best. I feel really at home. Just wanted to say thanks! :newbie:

You're welcome, and for the most part you shouldn't get flamed on the board. However, you may see a few posts stating to use the search feature, which works great. :)

Cool

Yeah, I haven't got flamed yet on this board, I hope i never do leads me to suicide :( j/k j/k lol. Well anywho just ask so many questions you can. That's how you learn and it would be stupid never to ask a question that you are pondering and CAN ask :]

whats the forbidden R*** acronym?

MasterC 02-22-2003 10:55 AM

Read The Fine Manual

F can be replaced with any adjective of your choice ;)

However, since this question was a "should I" question, RTFM doesn't come into play. You can't read a man page and get a human response out of it ;)

Cool
