Newbies only! I just installed first software...

I just installed first software!

740sis video drivers and bugfixes.

The first problem I had was the tar.gz files were compressed and I didn't
know about the "z" mod to the comand.

The second problem. I had pre-compiled binaries. All instructions assumed
source files. I kept trying to do farther processing to the file when all I needed was
to move it to the correct directory.

Just wanted to incourage the other "newbies" to read, pay attention, and
most of all THINK about what may be going wrong.

You will learn a lot more than you will by doing x+y+z because someone said so.
If you get frustrated just take a break and try again later. It isnt urgent.

I know this isnt rocket science put sometimes the little things get you.

Hey, well done! I'm at that point where I managed to install Mozilla Firebird correctly but don't really understand the process yet. For now I look for rpm packages that I can install with YAST
