Try Knoppix. No installation necessary, runs straight off the CD.

just download a live cd from the distribution of your choice

Try downloading Ubuntu www.ubuntu.com
Burn the ISO file to a CD-ROM, place the Ubuntu CD-ROM into your computer and reboot. You can run this without touching your hard drive. Be aware though that Ubuntu will run about 50 times slower off the CD than it would if it were installed on your hard disk. Also, Puppy Linux is good to try because it also does not touch your hard disk and it runs from RAM so it runs really fast! www.macpup.org |
Try Puppy or wubi.
Wubi - Ubuntu Installer for Windows http://wubi-installer.org/ Puppy Linux http://www.puppylinux.com/ |
i have downloaded puppy linux how do i boot it from ram? i do not have any cd burners :(
|
Install vmwareplayer so you can either install it or run it as a livecd in a virtual machine.
|
vmware is too big i don't have space for it, can you tell me how to make puppy linux boot using ram instead? i try google search but not so much result
|
VMwarew is about 200MB if you cant install that then there's no hope for you, it's free to, well there are certain versions that are free anyway. Otherwise just boot puppy linux from your cd and if it is a live CD then it will give you the option to boot as such.
