newbie software install question
 
Hi. I am trying to install xmms on mandrake 9.2.

i downloaded the tar.gz file, cd'd to /usr, untarred it okay, and when i ./configure it i get a problem. Here is what it said:

[root@linux xmms-1.2.10]# ./configure

Just wondering what to do. Thanks for any help

you need to install the gcc package

is this on the cd or online or is it part of xmms?

i had that problem for a while in red hat 9. it turns out the development tools are on the installation cd's and i never installed them.
