newbie software install question
Hi. I am trying to install xmms on mandrake 9.2.
i downloaded the tar.gz file, cd'd to /usr, untarred it okay, and when i ./configure it i get a problem. Here is what it said: [root@linux xmms-1.2.10]# ./configure checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnuoldld checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnuoldld checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... gawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for prefix by checking for xmms... no checking for gcc... no checking for cc... no checking for cc... no checking for cl... no configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH See `config.log' for more details. Just wondering what to do. Thanks for any help |
you need to install the gcc package

is this on the cd or online or is it part of xmms?

i had that problem for a while in red hat 9. it turns out the development tools are on the installation cd's and i never installed them.
