Right ... I just wanted to see whether
the driver and the hardware for your
ethernet match, and they do :} .... this
narrows it down to a setup-problem.
I assume you're using a DSL or cable-
modem? If so, what's the setup in winDOHs
like? Fixed IP, DHCP?
Cheers,
Tink

Well, I'd suggest you go to mandrakes control
center and tell eth0 to go and try DHCP ... I'm
not too familiar with the draks (can't stand them ;}).
Cheers,
Tink

What does
su - ifconfig
say?
Are you getting new IP addresses
each time, or is it only dynamic in
the sense that your device (what
have you got there, broadband-wise?)
gets a new IP but hand out the same to
your comp?
Cheers,
Tink

It's ifconfig, ipconfig is the MS bastardized version
of a Unix command ;)
I did, however, make a mistake
the commands should have been
on separate lines like this
su -
ifconfig
or
su -c ifconfig
Cheers,
Tink
