Newbie question - entering commands

Hi all,

I'm a total newbie to the the world of Linux, and I want to set up a CRON Job on my website. I've contacted the Host, to ask if CPanel could be installed, and they came back with:

Quote:

you can set cron jobs through shell access or via telnet , you have to use some linux commands for that

Now, how exactly do I input the commands? Do I create a file with the commands in and execute it? Where would this go? Or am I totally wrong?

Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you all,
Best wishes,
Ed Ludlow

If you are in the GUI, run a terminal emualtor, like xterm or gnome-terminal or konsole. Run the 'su -' command to switch to root user.
