I'm running Slackware 10.0 and the standard install of Kopete and Gaim will not work on Yahoo. I d/l'd yahoo, and installed it. It works fine, except the buddy list doesn't show any names....What's up? How do I fix this? I've tried reinstalling, it just does the same thing, tried changing fonts, but no change there either. When I click on a smiley that is showing, I can send/receive messages, but I have no idea who I'm talking to before I open the chat window. Anyone have an idea?
You may need to update your GAIM/Kopete installation because, I believe, Yahoo! has changed their authentication protocols since the time the ones with Slack 10.0 were released.
Tried updating kopete and gaim....Neither of them will even open now. So I'm stuck with Yahoo. Is there somekind of config file for it somewhere I can edit or delete? Any ideas on YAHOO would be appreciated. Don't want/need/desire/want to hear about the virtues of GAIM or KOPETE. Have no use for them. I only use Yahoo anyway, and will not switch, especially since Yahoo installed very easy and WORKS, except the irritating problem of not seeing the names on my friends list, only the online smiley for them.
