Newbie needs help w/ install ...

Please help me if you can ...

First off ... I'm very new to Linux, so please bear w/ my ignorance.

I'm trying to intall Redhat Linux as a dual boot on my PC w/ XP. I downloaded the 3 files from Redhat and used Nero to image the disks. When I restart and boot from CD the start page for the install appears. I hit enter to install in graphic mode and the install begins just fine. However, it stalls and doesn't go any further at (I have no idea what this is)

EHCI-HCD
PCI Device 1106:3104

I'm using a seperate 40G HD that I had XP on previously. The XP is now on it's own drive. I'm sure the fix is a simple one ... but I just don't see it.

Help me so that I may maintain what littel sanity I have left.

Thanks in advance,

Nathan

Might be bad disks. Anyways, seeing as you haven't installed already, I would recommend trying a newer distro that still has security updates. Something like Fedora Core 3/4 or CentOS 4.1.

Do your cd checksum?

Otherwise see

It seems your USB is playing
What motherboard have you got?

What version of redhat? Maybe try a newer version as suggested in last post

Besides verifying the checksum, if your RH distro also allows for testing your media, do that as well.

I initially had problems installing FC4 even though the checksums on my iso files checked out fine. When I finally performed the media test (ref: http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/fedora...tallation.html ), two of my discs apparently had some sort of problems. I reburned the iso files to the same discs, re-ran the media tests (all disks passed the second time around), and was able to install with no problems.
