Newbie needs Guidance
 

Hello. I have recently installed my first distro of Linux (FC5 dual booting with xp and server 2003). I wish to have a full, comprehensive study guide on hand to help me in my transitioning from the windows environment to the linux. Anybody know of any good sites or ebooks that give a little more than a few tidbit articles, leaving me to piece information together browsing the web? Or atleast, can someone give me an outline as to what I should study first, for example:

1. Filesystem and directories
2. YUM
3. Repositories
4. Installing software
5. Linux version of a Registry?
6. Setting up apache, ftp, mysql...

rute is pretty comprehensive and a great place to start...and it's rpm based, so it's very fedora core friendly....

Another good website to get a lot of differnet information is The Linux Documentation project.

Trial and error---seriously, the best learning tool for many. Try different menu commands, explore and experiment. If you data is backed up, the worst that can happen is you would have to re-install.
Reading books often gives more value after you have spent time tinkering.
