Newbie Linux driver Install problems

I have a couple of questions that I would like to ask , I purchased a Rosewill RNX - G1/G1W Wireless USB Adapter
mostly on the strength of the fact that it was a compatible adapter for packet injection and more so for the fact that everywhere you look at this adapter it says that it “ works straight out of the box “ with backtrack 3 , but when I looked around at this adapter I have found there seems to be a problem with the LINUX driver that comes with it , so is this a good adapter or not ?
My second question is also about the LINUX driver for this adapter , I am very new to LINUX and do not understand the programming language at all, as far as LINUX goes I am a complete Newb, anyway onto the question, I have looked at various guides on the subject but none of them address the fundamental question of how to actually install the LINUX driver using LINUX commands in backtrack 3 could someone please show me how to do this it appears that I should be using the LINUX 2.6 kernel version driver which I
downloaded from the Rosewill website is this the right one and what commands do I use to install the driver in backtrack 3 ?
I plugged the adapter into the USB port with backtrack 3 loaded up ( Remember I have no drivers installed at this point Neither the Windows or Linux ) and the light on the adapter is not flashing , I am aware that some kind of driver must be installed for the adapter to work but shouldn’t LINUX/Backtrack 3 detect something prior to the driver being installed or am I making the classic Windows verses LINUX idiot remark ?
I am sure after I get some responses from you I will have plenty more questions , I like most have used mostly windows and Dos operating systems over the years but understanding LINUX may as well be as hard as trying to understand Mandarin Chinese

Thank you for your response.

I visited the link that you gave and I really was not sure what I was looking at. However, my main problem is understanding the Linux commands to actually install the wireless adapter driver. For Example~~ If I had the Linux driver on a USB Storage Device and I wanted to type command inside of Backtrack, to locate and install that driver, what would the actual Linux commands be?

Firstly, I should explain that I am using the VM Ware Work Station Version 7 which has many different Linux distributions in it. The distribution I am using is: (Other Linux 2.6.X kernel) along with Backtrack 3 installed. I hope this explains the Linux Version. I am very new to this and it can quickly get confusing. Even if you have to use the 1. 2. 3. approach, I will understand and appreciate it very much. Seriously, I would very much appreciate a step by step instruction, if you would be willing. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

install/manage Windows drivers for ndiswrapper

usage: ndiswrapper OPTION
-i inffile install driver described by 'inffile'
-a devid driver use installed 'driver' for 'devid' (dangerous)
-r driver remove 'driver'
-l list installed drivers
-m write configuration for modprobe
-ma write module alias configuration for all devices
-mi write module install configuration for all devices
-v report version information

where 'devid' is either PCIID or USBID of the form XXXX:XXXX,
as reported by 'lspci -n' or 'lsusb' for the card

I have not used it , so can not say anything about it .

Is there any reason you cannot run Backtrack 5 instead of Backtrack 3?
