newbie in LInux cannot locate this particular answer to question

What would you name the link to an init script that would start the daemon bigd early in the boot process?

bigd? F5 stuff?

well you'd call it S99bigd assuming the initscript is called bigd and you want it in position 99. normally you'd just use chkconfig to add this automatically for a number of reasons, including that there may be a specific point in the boot it would need to start on, which would be defined in the start of the init script itself on most systems.

please use useful and relevant thread titles in future, they should actually relate to the question.

Homework?

Please define "early in the boot process"---eg before which other processes?
