Newbie Help ! Please !

Hi I just need some help with my Mandrake 9.2. I recently installed a new
powersupply on my computer and right after my mandrake went wonky !. First of all my ethernet connection is down. Completely!. Everything is configured correctectly it is set for DHCP and everything looks good. However it fails to connect and won't fails on startup. Oddly enough the other problem i am having is with my onboard sound. Mandrake totally doesn't recognize it. In the hardware config it is setup for an Intel driver but I am sure that this is correct. Oddly enough I re-formatted the drive and re-installed it afterwords figuring that this was easiest for a noob like me. However problem continued on the new installation. It is a dual boot with windows Xp. I was told it could be a problem with Xconfig. If so how could I fix this. Any other suggestions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm missing my mandrake ... Thanks.

1.What kind of connection are you using?
2. Put here your output of lsmod. Your problems with sound can be caused badly-configured ALSA. Try also to type:
# alsamixer
and set on volume on most important channels. If it doesn't work, try to configure your card typing:
# alsactl #number_of_your_sound_card (should be 0, 1 or 2)

I am using a LAN connection to my router. I tried with DHCP and also tried using a Static IP (192) for my router. Both however not working. As for the sound problem I am getting no channels for the sound card at all. I will certainly provide the lsmod as soon as I make it back home. Thanks for all the help. !
