Newb compiling help


Im trying to compile gaim 1.0.1 from src some one told me
To make an install:
1. Extract
2. Open shell in folder
3. Type ./compile
then I dont remember... is this even right? please help

then after you untar it look for a README or INSTALL file and check it out,have fun

1. Extract

3. Type ./configure
4 type make
5 type make install

usually that does it... again check the parent posters URL for more info

Remember, always make sure you have root privilages when you do make install.
