New Video card trouble
 

I recently purchased an Xtasy 9100 video card (based of the Radeon 9100 chipset) to replace my 8 MB integrated card. After I did the setup in windows, I rebooted and went into Linux. It detected the hardware, and I configured it. It defaulted my display to 800x600, which is too small for my 17" display. After that finished, I went to select new settings (In Gnome) and selected 1024x768, and 'Enable Hardware 3D acceleration'. I rebooted, and as soon as X-Windows started up, the monitor went blank, as if it had went into sleep mode (the pwer indicator turned from green to amber). So I pulled out the card and reconfigured everything, so I am at the default settings again. What can I do to increase my resolution and/or enable the hardware 3d acceleration properly? Here are my system specs.:

Pentium 3 500MHz
256 MB SDRAM
RedHat Linux 9/Win 98 (Dual Boot)
64 MB DDR Xtasy 9100 Video (replacing integrated 8MB ATI rage pro)

I went to a terminal and typed "redhat-config-xfree86" and got the same dialog box as I did bwfore when I accessed it through the menu system. Thanks in advance.

Well I got the resolution fixed (my monitor needed configuring). But when I go to enable 'Enable Hardware 3-D acceleration' and reboot, the monitor still "shuts off". I heard that ATI renamed their 8500 series cards to 9100 (I have an X-tasy 9100 from VisionTek). Would the 8500 drivers from the ATI website work okay? What happens if I install the wrong drivers (or won't it let me)? Finally, if I still get the problem with the monitor, how can I reset the previous settings without taking out and replacing the new card? I want to fix this mainly b/c I want to try some of the games that came w/ Linux, such as Tux Racer.
