new to linux ubuntu 10.10 netbook

i am very new to linux
i am using ubuntu 10.10 netbook
i think it is the same thing as maverik meercat?

i am looking for a website that can teach me how to navigate and use it.
i downloaded ubuntu pocket guide and reference for ubuntu 8.04lts , 8.10 and beyond but it is not real helpful for the 10.10 netbook os i am running on my acer aspire 1. the book says to go to things like

"System --> Preferences menu—click the Keyboard
entry and not the Keyboard Shortcuts entry to configure the keyboard."

i understand that but in ubuntu 10.10 i dont have anything called SYSTEM to click on.

i guess i need more up to date help
where do i go from here?

Here are just a few of the many (and I mean many) sites to go to for help with your ubuntu:

I'm sure you'll get more, no the least of which is ubuntuforums

the New Unity interface is set up quite different than a standard gnome desktop. I can't find any official documentation on it just yet. What kind of specific problems are you having or what are you wanting to do? I just installed UNR 10.10 on my netbook and so far I like it. I'll try to help as best as I can

About dot com has a good, Ubuntu-oriented Linux site with lots of examples.

Garrels's Intro to Linux was the biggest help to me.
