New to Linux products, installed Linspire 4.5. How do you execute bin files

As I have said I am new to the Linux and so I've been having a difficult time trying to execute new files which I have downloaded. I'm trying to start LIMEWIRE which I just downloaded yesterday but I am used to Windows where by just clicking on the exe. file would get a program up and running. I would like to ask for any help in this area so any kind of walk-through or points of direction in this matter would be appreciated.

Try opening up a terminal (the console) and type this:
sh your_file.bin
Of course, replace your_file.bin with the name of the file.
