New to Linux. Need advice for installing printer drivers
Hello,
A friend of mine helped me install Linux Cinnamon on a HP computer. Everything seems to be working well. However I don't know how to install the printer drivers. MY printer is NOT on the list within the linux system. It is a Brother MFC-J430w. It is hard wired to my computer and the router is on my desk. I supposedly found the correct driver and i have downloaded it. It is in a zip folder. I just don't know how to get the computer to see it and install it. Thanks for any help |

I have the folder on my desktop. I tried that website already. They give some examples of "command" prompts. I still cant figure out how to open the zip folder and get the computer to see it and install the drivers.
I'm totally new to Linux. |

More information is needed. "Linux Cinnamon" is not a distribution of Linux. Cinnamon is a graphical desktop environment. You need to know whether you have a .deb system or a .rpm system. The Brother drivers are in either .deb or .rpm formats. All of their Linux instructions are based on one of those two packages.

Your login screen should tell you what distribution you have. Please post the name of your distribution. If you are running for example Linux Mint with Cinnamon then that is a .deb system. Please download the .deb package in step 2 and follow the instructions for dpkg If you are running for example Fedora with Cinnamon then that is a .rom system. Please download the .rpm package in step 2 and follow the instructions for rpm. |
