New to Linux and which laptop?

Hi, Im about to buy a new laptop and plan to fresh install mint onto it. This is my first time with linux and I have no idea if these laptops work ok with linux. These are the laptops I am looking at..

Asus F553MA-XX1151T
HP 14-AF113AU
Acer Aspire ES1-521-650T
Dell Y510939AU Inspiron
Asus F555YA-XO047T

Does anyone know if any of these would work ok? And any advice on whixh laptop is best? Which to avoid? Any advice appreciated very much!

Thanks.

How many threads are you going to post? You already have answers on the other Linux forum...

Sorry bud, when I checked before writing this one there were no replies an hour after posting so I found another forum with a lot more people viewing. Thanks.

HP stream 11 is my current linux laptop. And an ancient Dell inspiron 1150. Both work fine/great in linux. My experience with laptops tends to be buy used. Or be prepared to jump a few hoops. Like custom and recent kernels to support your new-ish hardware, or usb dongles for capabilities that exist but are not currently supported. The hardware layer is pretty homogeneous these days so outside of obscure interface devices like touch screens, one button click pads, and bluetooth only type capabilities, things tend to just work. Wifi and UEFI tends to be the biggest stumbling blocks for most folks.

I tend to choose laptops based on specs, keyboard layout and price. Laptops to me are disposables, since the upgrade path is mostly non-existent. If you use it as a laptop and travel, odds of damage, accidental misplacement, or theft are high, so why spend a fortune on one? The last laptop I had which had severe linux issues was a sony vaio from the early 00s. The backlight (sonypi) stuff never really worked, so it was retina burning bright all the time. And the state of acpi at the time left cooling and fan control questionable at best. Linux has come a long way since then. If you're really worried about compatibility, find one that plays well with the BSDs.

Asus F553MA-XX1151T
15.6" - 1366x768 screen
Intel GPU and CPU (quad core)
4GB RAM
Spinning Rust HDD
(should be fine as far as CPU and GPU goes, although screen resolution will likely have large pixels. Probably a good display if you're over 40 and don't need a lot of content on screen.)

HP 14-AF113AU
14" - 1366x768
AMD GPU and CPU (quad core / APU)
4GB RAM
Spinning Rust HDD
(might have quirks)

Acer Aspire ES1-521-650T
15.6" - 1366x768
AMD GPU and CPU (dual core)
4GB RAM
Spinning Rust HDD
(kind of slow by modern standards)

Dell Y510939AU Inspiron
15.6" - 1366x768
Intel GPU and CPU (dual core)
4GB RAM
Spinning Rust HDD
(probably the best compatibility IMO, but meh)

Asus F555YA-XO047T
15.6" - 1366x768
AMD GPU and CPU (quad core)
8GB RAM
Spinning Rust HDD
(best specs of the bunch)

All kind of meh with their 1366x768 screens. If you plan on not using them as laptops, get a gigabyte brix. If as a laptop, get an hp stream 11 and save yourself hundreds and buy the next gen laptops in 3+ years. All these specs are almost XP era desktop specs. Hardly worth the price IMO.
