New to Linux and well ..C/C++/Python/Java/Jython/Android Looneys

Hey guys, I've used this site to fumble through a lot of information, and man, there is so much going on it's a little overwhelming.

I installed Fedora20? on a Lenova Y400 uefi system a few weeks ago, and well I can't boot into Win8, and I maybeee might have lost my partitioned Windows8 hd? I used to be able to see it in Fedora, now I can't..

Anyways, that's not much concern. But I AM trying earnestly to learn C language, Python (only books I have right now), as well as shell scripting and working with bash, and whatever else it will involve.

It's been a really interesting immersment into this stuff so far, I really enjoy it and wish I would have gotten involved earlier, but it is indeed time consuming..

As of right now, I'm having a hard time REALLY understanding how the hell java/python/C/C++ interact with the machine.. at the same time I'm trying to understand how to REALLY communicate with the machine via linux/bash to locate files, unzip files, or even run files.

Hell I can't even find a decent list of commands, and much of the ones I input return some error because I typed them wrong or something.

So I'm almost to the point of learning the language and using it freely, but as of right now it's basically a terminal filled with error garb, a bunch of books sprawled out to help me around, and a lot of retyping.. but I do enjoy it.

I've learned more about computers in 3 weeks than I had in 20 years, so right on.

I'm hoping to get to the point of developing simple android/web games and apps within a year.. I also want to learn how to manipulate physical objects with python/jython/C/C++ and arduino/rasberry pi brainstuff thingies.. A longg way to go, but I thoroughly enjoy the info in this community and hope I can help or provide some sort of insight.

The only question I might specifically have for someone is if they could explain to me how Python/Java themselves were written and why they differ? As well as how they specifically call forth linux/bash?/sh?/C? to execute certain commands?

For instance, say I wanted to make a web game in python that called forth actual components on the laptop.. say making the keyboard blink when someone bumps into an obstacle of a driving game, or sound in a game.. argh alright sorry I'm running off topic again! There's too muchh

Im also over on the fedoraforums i believe, if anyone is over there

Example of what I'm talking about.

Just downloaded LIVES video editing software as a .gz, can't open it though...

i typed gunzip LiVES

I get back gzip: LiVES.gz: No such file or directory

I assume this is because I mistyped the file, but when I search for the file I can't find it

I type in locate LiVES and I get a return back to #
