New To Linux


I am a senior Systems Manage for OpenVMS. I now have to learn linux and be able to support it as I did with OpenVMS. I joined so that bring myself up to speed as quickly as possible.

There's a good basic tutorial at about dot com. It's oriented towards Ubuntu, but has a lot of great information.

I recommend Machtelt Garrels Introduction to Linux for a detailed primer.

Be aware that the difference between various 'distros' (distribution: www.distrowatch.com) can make a difference.
