New openSUSE Install on New Computer Where do I start?

Hope this is in the right place... I'm a total newbie!

I have a tower that I wish to make into a server. All of the hardware is working fine, and I have made myself an openSUSE liveCD, that fires up OK. I have read several installation guides but all are different from what I'm getting on the screen.
I don't see YaST and do not have a means of accessing anthing other than what's on the menu. So I entered KDE.
It loads but then asks for a "linux Login".

I'm stuck, believe I'm out of sequence on the install, and could use experienced help!

Thanks in advance!
J.J.

Hi J.J., can you be a bit more specific? You booted off of liveCD and that worked ok? I haven't used Suse for a bit but most liveCDs have a "Install to hard drive" icon or something similar on the desktop.

When I say that it "booted", I got the welcome page, and then a menu, very limited, as all it has is: KDE, Check Media, Check Memory, Boot from Hard Drive, and one other item. But nothing about installation, directoy, nor Help.

I check the media, which came back OK; checked the memory, and it was OK.

Selected KDE, slow to load but ened up with a DOS-like command screen that terminated with: "linx login:"

Any ideas? Thanks,
J.J.
