Unhappy New On Lindows 4.0

Ok I just installed Lindows 4.0 on my pc today. And I know nothing about Lindows or Linux, but i had to convert to run servers.
Anyways I downloaded a .bin file to install on my pc. Using Lindows 4.0 how do i do this? I was told to type /nameofbin.bin in counsole to install this. I dont even know where the "counsole" is i tried the run command and nothing happens.
Does anyone have some basic instructions on how to do this?

Also I downloaded WINE and it is a .gz file. How whould i go about installing this as well all I know is it is compressed?

Thank You, I know I am a noob to this!!!!

hi

lindows is a desktop distro. dont use it for servers. it is debian based and foundation is strong enough thou.

apt-get can be used to install new software. i just ave a detailed answer in this thread

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=87283

console is the terminal or the command line. you can even use run. just click more option and use terminal

using run to lauch konsole first is a good option though.

apt-get install wine will work.

if you need to build from source(which i dont recommend) i have given the instructions in the thread above too.

irc channel #debian at irc.freenode.org has a lot of helpful people in case you have doubts

search google for any other questions

for example searching " how do i extract .gz files"
in google.com would have given you the answers pretty fast
