Just wanted to say hello to everyone. For quite sometime now I have been searching through this forum, and info here has helped me so much.
Been working with Linux since i was 13 and still feel like a noob :) Installed new Ubuntu 2days ago, and just got the Linksys (wusb54gc) wireless usb adapter hooked up and everything is finally working perfect; had alot (i mean alot) of trouble "trying" to get stupid netgear WG111v2 dongle working and gave up. I will be coming back for help, and also contributing & posting as well. |
Hi and welcome to LQ, do not feel bad about having trouble configuring a wireless dongle. I bought one (Ralink) because they build drivers for Linux. I have installed four or five internal pci in the past using ndiswrapper with windows drivers and not had any problems. This usb dongle has given me fits so I buy a pci card and come to find out it has to work on a newer kernel than I have. I did not find this out till after working for two days off and on. Now I am going to try and use the usb again, I have a new revised driver. If you can check in the read me see if it needs a newer kernel than you may be running.

Linksys generally has good support. Just remember that support for any type of device is getting better and better and all it takes is a little bit of patience.
