New mail notification sound in Mozilla 1.6

I have a sound set up for new mail notification in Mozilla 1.6 and it doesn't seem to work. It is a wav file and is called "austinmail.wav" and I know it works because I have heard in in other XMMS, but not in Mozilla. I am using KDE 3.1
Any suggestions? Be nice!

Are you able to include the full path with whatever wav program you would like to use, eg.

/usr/bin/play somesound.wav

I've just done a quick search, and it seems that other folk are having the same problem, - maybe the bug that was in the previous version was never fixed...

As a last resort, you could use another mail notification program (eg. that which comes with Gkrellm - definitely recommended) to check the mail server regularly, and only open the mail program when something interesting arrives

I am having the same problem (Mandrake 9.2, Windowmaker): I noticed that when I try to preview the sound I have selected for mail notification (under "Options"), aterm displays the following: "/dev/dsp: Resource temporarily unavailable." I tried changing the permissions for /dev/sounds/dsp (which /dev/dsp is pointing to) to a=wrx, but this had no effect. The sound works fine for all other applications.
