new mail

So every time i access my xine folder ( /home/zax/apps/xine) i'm told that i have new mail in my root. I also get mail when accessing different folders, but i have found the xine one to be very consistant. On a side note, i still have not gotten xine working, even though i compiled it properly as far as i can tell...
Here is the mail content, or the top of it at least, any recommendations are welcome... thanks!

Code:

[root@localhost xine]# cat /var/spool/mail/root |more

I don't think the mail notification would have anything to do with you entering the xine folder. Bash alerts you that you have new mail by telling you after you've run a command. Unless you're running a mail server this mail is most likely output from the various programs set to run by default in cron to do things like rotate logs, clean out temp files etc. It has nothing to do with xine.

As for xine I'm sure there are fedora packages for it - you may need to add some extra repositories to your yum config and then install it through that. See http://www.fedorafaq.org/#getsoftware

If for some reason you still want to compile it then post the errors you're getting.
