New Kernel not booting
Right now i'm running a very old kernel for 7.3
2.4.9-31 #1 Tue Feb 26 06:53:37 EST 2002 i686 unknown
on an Athlon based processor
This is a server in a remote datacenter which i'm having to have techs work on since I cannot be there to reboot it for each kernel issue.
I chose an i686 kernel since I had the following issues with these kerbel versions
386 - Configuring kernel parameters hangs
Athlon - checking root file system. hangs
Now on the 686 kernel it gets a little further to - finding module dependencies. then it hangs. Old kernel boots fine.
How can I find out which module dependencies it needs remotely via SSH. By module deps does it mean hardware modules or missing rpms?
I haven't custom-compiled anything, all is via standard redhat rpms. I've done many kernel upgrades previously including this latest one.
All has gone fine except for this server which is being tiresome, how can I troubleshoot this remotely/involving as few reboots as possible (hell i've already had DC reboot this box many times today).
