the kernel has no effect on gcc (with the exception of security settings, but that is still a big if)

are you sure its the kernels problem?, and what you mean by it wont work, does it give any errors ?

also, don't double post http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=243994

sorry for the dbl post thing thought i lost this thread... couldn't find it???

well i run linux on VMware workstation 4.?? and after updating mandrake i have to reconfigure
the VMware tools (it has something to do with the network??)
when i try to do so... it says that the gcc++ library 2.6.3-7 doesn't comply with current running kernel 2.6.3-19... the gcc i'm using is the one bundled with the mandrake 10.0 official release,
installed from the mdk.rpm package db in the drakxconfig(main config util) utility....

so i thought it might need to be reconfigured in order to have it up-to-date with new kernel??
so my question is where do i find the config for gcc and how do i update/reconfigure gcc??

anywho it would be nice if someone would take the time to guide me through the installation of the new gcc 3.4.2!!

any help would be nice!!!

from what i know of gcc, there are no config files, so i guess you mean you'll need to reinstall (recompile for special options i guess..)

as for how to install 3.4 , i have no experience with mandrake so i wouldn't know were to start

if you where to dl it from gcc website and install from there how would you do it??

how different can the distro's be, when you work in rxvt, bash shell or other terminal???

is it common that when launching make, that it takes it 2 hours to finish??
