Recently I read some threads regarding to a bug in the older versions of kernel (i.e. 2.4..) if we use iptables logging. Attacker could DoS the kernel or something I don't remember.

I have RH 9 and it has version 2.4. I went on the kernel website and downloaded the lates version of kernel 2.6..... But the website did not have any info about how to install the new kernel. Can't you help me out? Can you show me step-by-step on how to install it. If not can you point me to any simple instruction on the web?

I did my work by doing research before I ask you but now I am stucked and I need your help.
