New install of RH 8.0 won't boot
I just installed RH 8 on my Win XP machine. Install went fine, when I boot I get GRUB and when I choose Red Hat it starts to boot and then just stops. I can boot to Windows from GRUB, but can't boot to Red Hat. Here are the last few lines of the boot sequence that are displayed when the boot freezes:

ide: Assuming 33mhz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx

PCI_IDE: unknown IDE controller on PCI bus 00 device f9, VID=8086, DID=24ca

PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:1f:1

PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 00:1d.2

PCI_IDE: chipset revision 3

PCI_IDE: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later

ide0: BM-DMA at 0xbfa0-0xbfa7, BIOS settings: hda:DMA hdp:pio

ide1: BM-DMA at 0xbfd8-0xbfaf, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdp:pio

blinking cursor

The cursor is just blinking at the bottom of the screen with no disk activity. In GRUB when I select edit boot commands here are the commands listed:

kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.18-14 ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi
initrd /initrd-2.4.18-14.img

I don't know if I should reinstall or what. Any advice, ideas, tips would be greatly appreciated

I just viewed my partitions with Partition Magic and my /boot partition is 149 MB but only has 14 MB used. Could I have installed incorrectly? Not specified that the install should use /boot and not just /?

One more thing, I can boot from my RH install CD into rescue mode. The boot process recognizes my hard drive right after the point where it stops when I try to boot from GRUB, so I am kind of thinking something is wrong with my install and I should just reinstall. If the boot loader on the CD can recognize my HD, then my installed boot loader might be corrupt. That's what I'm thinking at least.
