Hi,
the easiest way to set up the ISP account is by means of Mandrake Control Center. If you have problems post here the kind of connection, and more details to help someone to help you. To set up the sound volume: open the program "aumix" and adjust the correspondent slider. To know about your HD: Open a terminal and type: Code:

It's a technical question, so I've moved it to a technical forum. It'll get better exposure here.

If you're on dial-up you can use kppp for your connection - you'll need your ISP phone number, username & password and to select the modem device name and speed.
If you're on "broadband" using a router you can typically have your network params. assigned automatically on boot-up via DHCP or alternately assign them manually in the MCC under Network & Internet/Manage connections. |
BTW aumix isnt installed by default.
If you are truely new to mandrake, you might want to search these forums for URPMI. I know there was a great article on it a few months ago , but Im having problems finding it now. Seriously though... after getting your network connections up and running you really do need to read about it.. it will make your life much much easier when wanting to install software |
