New: how do i run programs(fedora)

ok so i dual-booted linux and windows on my spare comp. I am using fedora core (4-i think).

so the 1st program i wanted to intall was synergy(used it on windows, links 2 comps together so that i can use one mouse/keyboard)
so i went to rpmfind, dl'ed the correct one(pretty sure), and installed it.
Now, how do i run it? Ive tried typing numorus commands into the terminal, none of which seem to work.

I know that this is extremely noobish, but i cannot figure it out

hi,

have you tried typing the name of the program in a terminal. synergy.

This usually works for me. When I installed a program called dia it was opened by typing dia in the terminal window, evolution starts by typing evolution ... I think you can see where I am going with this.

I'm not sure if all or even most apps work like this but all the ones I have tried do.

I know this is one of the strangest things coming from Windows when you install a program you just expect a shortcut to be on the start menu.

Regards Lee

I think you should reread the link Brian1 provided to you. It sounds pretty clear what you have to do to configure and start the synergy server.

I use synergy also but dont run the server on my linux computer. So i dont remember how to start the server. I think you need to edit the .conf file. But for client is is very esay fgo to terminal and type synergyc -f <ipaddress_of_server> ex: synergyc -f 192.168.1.100
