new guy...
hello;
i am a noobie to linux (days of experience!) and have installed REDHAT 8.0 on my PC... I have an ALCATEL Speedtouch USB ADSL modem which i want to use with LINUX and to do so i am using the procedure from: http://www.linuxdude.co.uk/docs/Alca...WTO/index.html[/URL] i get up to PATCHING THE KERNEL, (section 2) and then i come across a problem...... it tells me to Test the pppoatm-1 patch: patch -p1 -s -E --dry-run < /path/to/pppoatm-1 what does the expression "/path/to/" mean? what do i put in here? does anyone know?? Thanks for any advice.. :Pengy: |
it means where the files are. e.g if you have put this pppoatm thingy in /usr/src then /path/to/ is /usr/src.

You sir, are a gentleman....:)
