I just purchased a new computer from walmart. It is a microtel desktop. It comes loaded with an os called Xandros. I haven't heard of this, being a newbie I haven't heard of much, but I would like to know if this is good for new users, or I would have to install some other os? Thanks..

Why don't we do things the other way around? You check out Xandros and then write a review of your impressions of Xandros.
I tried Xandros for a while on a spare computer, it was an O K distro,I believe it is based on debian, which means you can us apt-get to download more programs. I do remember it was one of the easiest distros to network and file share, I might have even used it as server software for a short time. So Xandros is O K.
I think Xandros is an excellent distro for someone new to linux.
I agree with that one! I sent a copy of the freebie to a relative who didn't even know what Linux is. The next thing I know, he's calling and asking for tips on this and that from within xandros.
It's still Redhat / Fedora for me but it seems that xandros is pretty newbie friendly indeed!
