new compiled Kernel but CDROM filenames changed

Moved from RH 8.0- 4.2.18 --> 4.2.21 (my compiled one) and after mounting CDROM, the filenames in /mnt/cdrom are different then the correct ones I was seeing while using RH.

Have you ever ran into this problem?

Thx

No... and for your info recompiling the kernel doesn't change any of the paths to your media (HD partitions, cd/floppy drives, etc.).

It's not the path that changed but the actual names of the files I see under /mnt/cdrom. i.e:

with RH, ls /mnt/cdrom returns

myFile.txt

with 4.2.21, ls /mnt/cdrom returns

linu123.xx

Don't now how could this happen?

Precisely my point, if you recompile kernels, nothing in your filesystem gets changed. My only guess would be that you have set a wrong root path in your lilo.conf... other than that, it would help if you can post your /etc/lilo.conf as well as your /etc/fstab contents here.
