networking in linux to linux machine in local lan

I am very much confused about file and printer sharing between linux 14 nadia to linux 14 machines.Got successfull in networking in linux to windows pc using samba,but still confused in linux machines.So plz help me guys by giving possible options.

For file sharing between machines you probably want to look at NFS (network file system). Set one machine up as an NFS server and the other as client. There are many tutorials on the subject on this site and others.

Not sure about sharing a printer. You might try entering 'localhost:631' in a browser address bar (it should ask for root password) and then have a mooch about looking for a "share this printer" option. But, this is largely a guess.

If you set up NFS to mount filesystems from one system onto another, make sure that your user and group numbers (uid and gid) are the same on all systems. Otherwise, files owned by user A on one system might match user B on another.

You can use samba from linux to linux also. Run a samba server on each Linux system so that users on other Linux systems can access the shares. With samba, you can share your printers too.
