1) Whenever I load a CD in the cdrom it gets recognised.The contents of d get displayed on the screen.But the CD doesn't start playing.Sound card is available as test sound button operates and gives a sound.How to proceed.
2) when I connect to network through Xdsl the connection activates.The https/www.google.co.in. opens. Can read emails in gmail folder.But whenever I try to connect to internet banking site of state bank of India the first page opens. when trying to login to the banksight a message like" cannot connect to https:/www.onlinesbi.com " appears.All cookies have been enabled.All crypto combinations have been tried to no avail.What can be the reason.I try to connect to network through Konqueror web browser.
3) When I connect a Pendrive to the USB port its details can be seen in scsi. I do not know how to open this device to download the file from it to office window.
how can I operate the Linux 9 sustem to get over the above three points.

Please provide more information, for example:

What distro/version and what desktop/window manager are you using?

What type of CD are loading (music, data file storage, etc.)?

What do you mean by "can be seen in scsi"? Does the device show in /etc/mtab?

The details are as follows:
1) Program name is Linux: Version:9 ( Shrike ); Release date:31 Mar.2003; Kernel version:2.4.20-8.
2) scsi means The KDE panel system information module. In this case the desktop used is KDE 3.1-10 Red Hat. The Pendrive vendor is Jetflash; Model is Transcend 4.0 GB; Rev:8.07; Type: Direct access . ANSI SCSI revision:02. I want to download some office information stored in this pendrive to the computer in open office calc. which is available on my PC.
3) CD loaded was a music ; the sound card test as explained in the system is ok and reproduces sound in the speakers.But the songs do not play.

Your Linux is Red Hat Linux 9, so old it hasn't been supported for many years. I don't know if anybody can help you with such an old system; I can't (except for the wrong URL earlier).

My suggestion: Backup the data and install a more recent distro. Since your PC is probably old as well, go for a lightweight distro like Lubuntu or Puppy Linux.
