Network Simulators?

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a good Network Simulator to practice my routing and switching...I have my books but would be nice to actually mess around and maybe one of you guys have experience with one that worked for you.

I always have my Virtualbox that I use for my OS's n stuff but didnt think setting up a complex network of virtual machines is the best choice.

Anyway, any help or direction would be awesome. Thanks

The most used Network Simulator is probably 'ns3'.
I.e. "ns-3-users" is the Forum with the most posts per day
